Former PSG midfielder Javier Pastore has explained the reason why Neymar Jr never won the Ballon d’or in his career before moving to Saudi Pro League where he is playing for Al-Hilal.
Neymar has been constantly the third best player in the world behind Messi and Ronaldo while he was donning FC Barcelona colors.
However, the lack of professionalism after leaving the Spanish side for Ligue 1 side PSG led to his decline.
Speaking on him, Pastore said the 32-year old was not focused 100% on football if not he could have won the Ballon d’or in the Messi-Ronaldo era.
“If he had wanted, he would fight for the Ballon d’Or against Messi, Cristiano, and whoever, but he lives his life in a different way. He does not live for football 100%,” he told reporters.
“I love him very much. I have written to him quite a bit now, during his injury. At first, I expected someone arrogant, and I was wrong.”
