A 25-year-old-woman, Motunrayo Akanni; and an 18-year-old boy, Toheeb Adetunji, have been arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, over allegations of stealing.
In separate charges, Motunrayo was accused of stealing the sum of N471, 350 while Toheeb was said to have carted away a vibrator engine.
Motunrayo allegedly committed the act in March 2022 at Kola Balogun area of Osogbo, while Toheeb reportedly committed the offence on May 11, at Number 4, Ilupeju community, Owode-Ede.
The police said, “Motunrayo, sometimes in the month of March, 2022 at Kola Balogun area, Osogbo, did steal the sum of N471,350 only property of one Omowaye Muideen and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 590(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”
The charge brought against the teenager read that “You, Adetunji Toheeb, on May 11, 2022 at about, 11:30am at Number 4, Ilupeju community, Owode-Ede, did steal a vibrator engine valued at N100,000, property of one Omoniyi Suliman and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 383, and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.”
The duo, without having a legal representation, entered into a not guilty plea for their respective charges.
Magistrate A. O. Adeyeba, who presided over Motunrayo’s case, granted her bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in the same amount.
Magistrate I. R. Ladipo, who presided over Toheeb’s case, granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in the same amount.
