The Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT), Osun State chapter, has elected new set of officers and subsequently sworn-in to steer the ship of the association for a two-year tenure.
The inauguration programme came up at ICT Centre of Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), Ile-Ife.
Dr Olukemi Awoyelu emerged the State Coordinator, while Mrs Olubunmi Ayinde; Mrs AnuOluwapo Oyinloye; Mrs Omoyemi Oni; Mrs Folake Towobola and Mrs Oyedemi Adenike became General Secretary; Special Duty; Treasurer; Welfare and Public Relations Officer respectively.
The oath of office was administered on the newly elected members by the National President of the association, Mrs Dele Bayo-Osibo, during the swearing-in ceremony.
The new state coordinator, Dr Olukemi Awoyelu, commended her predecessor, Mrs Yetunde Ogunwale, for the great work done to uplift the association. Awoyelu assured the members of good services and solicited for their cooperation to move the association to greater height.
Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), OAU, Prof. Olubola Babalola, said that the past leaders had made a landmark achievement to the union and the citadel of learning.
Babalola then urged members of the group to seize any opportunity given to grab whatever they could, adding that ICT is lucrative and ready to solve all challenges.
Also, the National President of NIWIIT, Mrs Dele Bayo-Osibo, urged the new executive to embrace other women across the state, especially at the tertiary institutions to ensure that the union was progressing.
NiWIIT is a special interested group of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS). This interest group is imperative to empower and encourage women working in the field of ICT. It is focused on increasing active participation and contribution at all levels in the IT industry.
