A serious clash broke out between the indigenes of Ifewara community, the headquarters of Atakunmosa Local Government Area of Osun state and the Hausa community on Tuesday evening.
Ifewara is a peri-urban community that has deposits of gold.
It was gathered that a Yoruba gold dealer had disagreed with a Hausa gold miner over proceeds from the precious stone.
A hot altercation had ensued between the duo before others residents joined in the conflict.
It degenerated into tribal clash when youths of the gold rich community clashed with other illegal gold miners of Hausa extraction.
Some residents were said to have sustained injuries.
Some houses and shops around Oja-tuntun Ifewara, according to a source, were said to have been burnt during the clash.
The Police in the state confirmed the clash.
The Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command, Folasade Odoro, confirmed the clash on Tuesday night saying that some policemen had been deployed to the community to douse tension.
