You don’t have to break the bank to look elegant, says popular On-Air-Personality, Toolz

Multiple award winner, Tolu Oniru, popularly called Toolz, is one of the most sought after on-air-radio personalities in Nigeria. She is from the famous Oniru family of Lagos.

She wanted to study Medicine but her phobia for blood sent her in a different direction. Today, she has a degree in Business and Mass Communication from the London Metropolitan University.

But talking about fashion and style, Toolz believes being fashionable is a necessity and being classy is all about style, elegance, sophistication and polished etiquette.

“Make sure that you develop your own fashion style that makes a posh statement. Avoid anything, which you feel doesn’t compliment you. It is advisable to have a personal style than chasing a ‘fad’ look. Once you understand and accept yourself for who you are, you can work on being true to yourself, which is the mark of an elegant woman,” she says.

According to her, an elegant woman is poised and polite, and “you can demonstrate this refinement by being kind and respectful to everyone around you. Communicate clearly and maintain your composure, no matter the situation. An elegant woman also cares about her appearance and takes time to groom herself. With a few simple steps, you can incorporate these values into your daily routine and life.

“I like good colours; I like a combination of accessories to complement my dressing. Elegance is not about spending outrageous amount of money. Instead, it relies on having a good taste, which is reflected in the choice of clothing and accessories that, when brought together, create the ultimate masterpiece.”

The radio presenter notes that it is always good to wear clean clothes, freshly pressed with no threads, rips, stains or fading, “but one should wear neatly put together outfit that looks good and throw on a few natural-looking basics such as a bit of mascara, a neutral shade of lipstick (or gloss), and just a hint of blush.”

Toolz further argues that the days of wearing archaic clothing are over.

“If you are wearing a bright sequin dress, tone down the accessories; if you are wearing neutral colours all the time, don’t be afraid to wear bright or sparkly accessories, and if you are all about the fierce make up look, don’t detract from it by wearing a plunging neckline,” she says.
