Osun State Government has declared that it would ensure that the local government chairmen elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the state who are claiming to be in possession of all the local government secretariats in the state, answer for any missing item in the council offices.

The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, gave this warning on Saturday while speaking on a radio programme monitored by THE POINT.

He alleged that the APC chairmen, who claimed to occupy the state local government secretariats are carting away property of the state government, insisting that government would compell them to answer for every missing property.

Alimi assured the people of the state that the “authentic local government chairmen” who were elected under the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party would soon resume duties legally.

Reacting to the allegation of looting the council offices when contacted on the telephone by THE POINT, the chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Osun APC faction, Samuel Abiodun denied the accusation.

Abiodun noted that none of the APC chairmen presently occupying the secretariats is looting the offices, saying, “Is there even anything to loot at the secretariats? Is it the furniture or money? Three is nothing to loot there and none of us has looted anything.”

The ALGON chairman said that the APC chairmen elected in 2022 are the original council chairmen as resinstated by the Court of Appeal judgement, noting that until a higher court (Supreme Court) says otherwise, they remain the authentic chairmen of Osun LGAs.

He added that Alimi has no power to allege or question their actions, insisting that they cannot cart away anything that belongs to the state because there is actually nothing to loot.
