Young Nigerians have other priorities than watching films – Muyiwa Ademola

Given the alarming rate at which actors die in recent times, Muyiwa Ademola has said it is as a result of accumulated stress and the fact that most actors do not pay attention to the little details that have to do with their health.

He said it was a major problem in the industry today to see actors working and forgetting about their health. He disclosed that a personal level, he does not toy with his health.

“I have a doctor and I visit him every three weeks. I also know when I need to take a break. When I work for three weeks, I take a few days off just to relax and eat. I also go on vacation.”

He, however, admitted that, despite medical examination in the most developed country, when God says it is time to join Him, it is time. According to him, no one can beat death.

Away from death in Nollywood, Ademola attributed his success in the movie industry to the support of his wife and children.

“Apart from God, I have to give it to my wife. She has been right there helping me at home and I cannot say I have been perfect. We have had several Valentine’s Days and birthdays that I could not be with her and she didn’t make it an issue. Of course, we fight but I say sorry first because I am always at fault,” he said.

He also explained that many factors, including piracy had discouraged him from producing movies in recent times.

Another factor, according to him, is the fact that this generation is different from the past generation that was willing to listen, watch films and enjoy them.

“This generation has different priorities, but all the same I’m coming and you will see many wonderful films with fantastic stories.”
