Death toll in Benue rises to 52

Death toll from Monday’s attack on Zaki Biam International Market in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State has climbed to 52. Our correspondent gathered that the attackers operated for about three hours without response from security operatives. Locals, who spoke with our correspondent, said that 13 persons were killed at the International Yam market, five at the National Secondary school, eight at Debeer and over 15 at Asahatar village. The locals, who pleaded anonymity, also said that several persons were abducted during the violence.
