I’m motivated to score more goals for Abia Warriors – Asiegbu

Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia mercurial mid-fielder, Shedrack
Asiegbu, says his two goals against league leaders, Plateau United in a
week 25 Nigeria professional Football League at the weekend will
motivate him to do more for the club.
Asiegbu, who had not scored for Abia Warriors this season, before his
brace last weekend, broke the ice at the Umuahia Township Stadium with
what might eventually turn out to be a strong contender for the goal
of the season in the 12th minute when he received a pass from around
the centre circle, chested the ball to his knee level and released a
thunderous left-footed shot which settled at the bottom left corner of
the net as Plateau United goalkeeper, Dele Ajiboye stood transfixed.
After Hamza Owolabi equalized for the league leaders in the 80th
minute, Asiegbu had the responsibility of ensuring victory for the
Warriors when he held his nerves to beat Ajiboye from the spot with
the last kick of the game.
Asiegbu said that he was happy to grab the
headlines and commended the Technical Crew led by Abdullahi Biffo for
the confidence they reposed in him even when the goals refused to come
his way.
“The Coaches believe in me and they have been advising me on how to
improve my game. I was very happy when I scored the goals. I dedicate
the goals to God my team mates and the entire team”, he further
stated.
In his comments, Biffo described the Umuopara Umuahia-born Asiegbu as
“a young man with a lion’s heart” insisting that the coaches believe
in him because of his work rate and team spirit, expressing confidence
that his performance against Plateau United will ginger him into more
action.
