11 travellers dead, 22 injured in Osun auto crash

No fewer than 11 people have been confirmed dead with 22 others injured Friday night after two vehicles collided along the Gbongan-Ibadan Road, Osun State.

The accident, which occurred around 9:05pm, happened opposite Ayedaade Local Government Council Secretariat, Gbongan.

The Public Relations Officer, Federal Road Safety Commission, Osun State Command, Agnes Ogungbemi, said the crash involved two commercial vehicles, a white Mazda E2000 bus and a black Toyota Hiace bus
with registration numbers KJA392YA and GWL427YM respectively.

Ogungbemi, who linked the crash to over speeding, said that 16 of the injured victims were taken to Ariremako Hospital, Gbongan while the remaining six were taken to the Osogbo Central Hospital.

“Ten corpses were deposited at the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.

“The remaining corpse was taken away by the relatives from the Hausa community in Lagos,” she added.
