Some angry supporters of one of the aspirants of the Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday destroyed campaign billboards of the governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ademola Adeleke, over defeat at the party’s primary for House of Representatives election.

David Asalu Alser had lost the ticket to the incumbent lawmaker of the constituency, Bamidele Salam at the primary held on Sunday night. Salam had polled 70 while Asler got 60 votes.

The rampaging political supporters said to be working for Asler allegedly vented anger by tearing down campaign billboards of Adeleke and alleging that he shortchanged Asler in favour of Salam at the primary.

After removing the billboards in Ejigbo town, Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, the irate supporters set it ablaze. Another mob also organized themselves in Ede, the country home of Adeleke and allegedly destroyed and tore down the billboards in the town.

Unconfirmed report revealed that the billboards were erected by Asler as part of his support towards emergence of Adeleke at the July 16 governorship election in the state.

The political supporters also removed the campaign posters on the vehicles owned by Asler and swore to work against the emergence of Adeleke at the poll.

A video obtained by our correspondent showed the angry supporters removing the posters bearing Adeleke’s picture and they alleged that the PDP governorship candidate didn’t support Asler at the primary.
