Alleged anti-Ambode plot: Aregbesola lambasts Lagos APC factional chair

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has lambasted a factional Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos over allegations that Aregbesola contacted him to help in edging out Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in 2019.

The Lagos APC factional Chairman, Mr. Fouad Oki, had alleged that Aregbesola and a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Bayo Oshinowo, contacted him to assist them in unseating Governor Ambode in 2019.

Aregbesola, who spoke with our correspondent through his media aide, Sola Fasure, said Oki was only trying to cause political enmity between the Osun governor and Ambode, who he described as his good friend.

He added that the claim by the factional APC state chairman was far from the truth, especially as a cordial relationship had long been existing between the two governors, who belong to the same political family under the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“Aregbesola has stated it that he is the only governor in Nigeria that is at home in Osun and Lagos. He does not need to take over anything. What people are trying to do is to cause disaffection between the two governors. They have a very cordial relationship and they belong to the same political family under Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. That claim is totally ridiculous and it is far from the truth,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos APC, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, has said Oki and his camp were only trying to cause chaos in the party with their cheap lies.

“That must be a cheap lie to cause a problem in the party and we cannot be affected by such. Anybody saying he is competing with Ambode is telling lies, there is no truth in it, and it is just full of fury, signifying nothing. All lies are of no substance because they are full of sound. Ambode has no competitor in Lagos. If it were another name, I would have believed it, but not Aregbesola,” Igbokwe
said.
