I’ll restore Nigeria’s dignity in global arena – Turaki, PDP presidential aspirant

A presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has vowed to provide qualitative leadership that will earn Nigeria the deserved respect in the international community, if he secures his party’s nomination and eventually wins the 2019 presidential election.

Turaki gave this assurance when the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki Presidential Campaign Organisation, headed by a former governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna, visited the secretariat of the Kaduna State chapter of the
PDP.

The presidential aspirant, who described the alleged non-performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress as a notorious fact, advised the PDP to ensure that the party nominates a candidate that has integrity, is fair-minded, knowledgeable, young and dynamic to defeat any standard bearer presented by the APC in next year’s presidential election.

Turaki said in a statement by the KTT Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Sola Atere, that the APC had failed woefully in its much-touted promise to tackle insecurity, especially the Boko Haram
insurgency.

“Suicide bombers are still on a rampage in the affected areas in the North East, despite the initial success of the Jonathan administration in making the area secure for the 2015 elections,” he said.

The PDP presidential aspirant further said Nigerians were no longer safe in their places of work, homes and streets, contrary to APC’s propaganda.

He accused the ruling party of encouraging corruption, contrary to its promise to Nigerians as confirmed by Transparency International to combat the scourge, noting that any corrupt person only needed to join the APC to be transformed into a ‘saint’ by the party.

Speaking on the state of the economy, the PDP presidential aspirant assured Nigerians that calculated steps would be taken to revive the sector, as all the gains made by the PDP administration had been wiped off by the APC because of its lack of vision and economic blueprint.

He urged the Kaduna State PDP to sustain the synergy with his campaign organisation to make it possible for Nigerians to reclaim their freedom and country from the current situation.

“The current intimidation and harassment can only kill our body, not our spirit,” he said.

Turaki, therefore, charged the people to protect their votes to make them count so that the international community would respect the country’s electoral process and hence, democracy.

The Chairman of the Kaduna State PDP, Hon. Felix Hassan Hyet, commended the presidential aspirant for his leadership role in mobilising people who stood by the party in its time of crisis,
stressing that he deserved respect and recognition for his sacrifices and
assistance.

Kebbi State PDP Chairman, Malam Haruna Dandio Saidu, urged those wishing the country well to align with Turaki’s presidential aspiration, “in view of his enviable pedigree as a man of conscience imbued with integrity, and a bridge builder who empathises with the common man.”
