Nigeria Falconets are through to the final qualifying fixture for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup following their emphatic 3-0 win against the Young Lioness of Cameroon and they will now battle with the winner of the Morocco-Senegal fixture in a two-legged affair next month for a slot at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in August.

To reach this stage, the Falconets having played a 0-0 draw in the first leg against the Young Lioness of Cameroon in a fortnight ago, hosted the Cameroonian at the newly renovated MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja for the second leg at the weekend.

Nigeria dominated the game from the start giving their opponents no much space and missed some clear cut chances in the opening minutes.

Esther Onyenezide gave Nigeria the lead in the 20th minute to become the first player to score a goal inside the newly refurbished stadium.

Precious Vincent doubled the lead for the Falconets with her 35th minute strike to give the hosts a convincing 2-0 lead heading to the first half.

The second half looked like there would be no goal until in the 72nd minute before Esther once again scored her brace of the game.

The 3-0 was enough to qualify the Falconets to the fifth and final round of the African qualifiers for FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, Costa Rica 2022 on 3-0 aggregate.
