Court remands two brothers in prison for alleged car theft in Osun

A Magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, has remanded three armed robbery suspects, including two brothers, in prison for allegedly dispossessing a banker with Access Bank, Idowu Abdulganiyu, of his car.

The suspects are Olasanmi Folayan, 39; and two siblings, Sola and Babatunde Adedayo, aged 34 and 49 years old, respectively.

The three suspects and others at large, allegedly armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, robbed Abdulganiyu of his Lexus car with registration number LAGOS LSR 42 FR, valued at N3.5million at about 9:30pm at Dada Estate area of Osogbo on March 16, 2019.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Adeoye Kayode, told the court that the suspects also made away with two iPhones, a car battery, three pairs of shoes, one power bank, car receipts, driver’s licence, Access Bank identity card and other documents, all belonging to the bank official.

The accused persons were said to have,therefore, committed an offence contrary to Section 6(b) and punishable under Sections 1(I) and 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Cap RII, Vol. 14, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The presiding Magistrate, Rofiat Olayemi, directed that the exhibits and the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution in the state.

She remanded the three accused persons in Ilesa prison custody and adjourned the matter till July 15 for mention.
