Eid-el-Kabir: Police beefs up security, felicitates Muslim, in Ebonyi

The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP Aliyu Garba, said that the command has put in place adequate security measures to improve public safety across the state during and after the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The CP gave the assurance in a statement signed by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Odah Loveth and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki.

He added that it was in line with the Police’s culture of beefing up security during major festivals as this.

The CP charged Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of tactical/Operational Units of the Command to deploy all the operational arsenals at their disposal, while collaborating with sister security agencies and local vigilantes to intensify visibility and confidence building patrol within their areas of responsibility.

He further tasked the senior officers to ensure adequate supervision of their subordinates, and warned them to be professional in their conduct while being mindful of the fundamental human rights of the citizens in the discharge of their duties.

He directed them to ensure maximum crime prevention and security at identified flashpoints, including major highways, streets, public places of worship, recreation/event centres and market places, as well as sites of critical public infrastructures within their areas of responsibility.

Meanwhile, the CP also felicitated the Muslim brothers in the state and wished them the best as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir. He urged them to celebrate responsibly.

He charged them to use the period to reflect and pray for the security and peace of the state and the country at large.

He said, “In the light of the above, citizens of the State are hereby enjoined to remain law-abiding, vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement of persons/group or mysterious objects noticed in any private or public place to the nearest Police Station or call the Police emergency numbers 07064515001, 07034232125 for quick response.”
