The one year anniversary of the #EndSARS nationwide protests billed for Wednesday at the Lekki Toll Gate and environs, will hold in a car procession.

This, according to the organisers, is to be able to easily identify themselves as well as prevent harassment from security operatives and hijack by hoodlums.

Recall that the Lagos State Police Command had warned against any forms of #EndSARS protest to avoid a repeat of last year’s deadly aftermath of the protests when hoodlums hijacked the peaceful protests.

However, in one of the posters, organisers insisted that the memorial protest will go on as scheduled and therefore urged intending partakers to come en-mass to the venue with their cars.

They also urged others willing to attend but don’t have cars, to indicate as provision of a vehicle that will convey them to the venue has already been arranged.

The organisers disclosed that the procession is scheduled to hold from 8am to 10am, as they advised protesters to stay in groups in their various vehicles for safety reasons.

Outspoken supporter of the protest, Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz in a post said: “We must never forget. We’re rolling up in cars tomorrow to drive through the tollgate.

“We know their way, so a procession of cars is the safest option to minimize police harassment. We have rides for people that need.”

One of the coordinators of last year’s protests and a frontline member of the Feminist Coalition, Feyikemi Abudu said: “#EndSARSMemorial People were shot, injured and killed as they waved flags & sang. To memorialise them, we’re driving through the toll tomorrow.

“We know them, so cars are to limit harassment. If you don’t have a car, text the number. There’s space. Will be there at 8. Join if you can.”
