Etebo turns ‘hot cake’ in Europe

Nigerian international midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, has turned a beautiful bride in Europe, as English Premier League club, Leicester City and Turkish giants, Fenerbahce, have intensified effort to hire the former Under-23 player.

The current English champions and the dominant Turkish outfit are monitoring the CD Feirense player, who is doing well at the Portuguese club.

According to numerous reports within Turkey, the 21-year-old is a potential target for the Turks ahead of the end of season transfer market window, when clubs attempt to strengthen their squads for the new campaign.

While Leicester are still fighting a relegation battle in the EPL, the background work is being done to bring in some additional talent at the end of the 2016/2017 season, with management confident that the team can remain in the lucrative topflight.

One of the players identified for a transfer is Etebo, but Fenerbahce may swoop in and hijack a potential deal with a more favourable offer. The Turks are hoping to meet with Etebo during the international break, when the midfielder will join the Super Eagles for matches this month.

English media reports in January suggested that Arsenal were also watching the Nigerian player closely, but they decided against an approach at the time. Now it appears that rivals Leicester and Fenerbahce are in pole position to attract the talented youngster, who is capable of adding value to a variety of midfield formations.

Before Etebo makes a decision on his future, he may opt to speak to his compatriots already with the Foxes in the Premier League to get a better idea of whether Leicester would suit him.

Ahmed Musa and Wilfred Ndidi have both joined the club this season, with mixed fortunes for Musa while Ndidi has enjoyed a great start to his time at the King Power Stadium
