Forex scarcity hits travelex, BDCs

Barely two months after the Central Bank of Nigeria gave approval to Travelex, a global foreign exchange dealer, to sell Basic Travel Allowance and Personal Travel Allowance to intending travelers, reports have revealed that acute shortage of dollars may have hit
the firm.

The development has left hundreds of travelers stranded as a result of the inability of Travelex to provide them with the required foreign exchange.

An officials of Travelex at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, said that for about 12 days, the global forex dealer had been unable to attend to the requests of
passengers.
