Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has withdrawn his Senatorial ambition.

Report had it that the governor stepped down for Senator Barau Jibrin representing the Kano North Senatorial Zone in order to douse the crises rocking the All Progressives Congress in the state.

Ganduje had earlier obtained the expression of interest form preparatory to the oncoming primary.

However, Ganduje and Jibrin were said to have had series of meetings with top APC members in Abuja where agreement was reached for the governor to let go his ambition.

Jibrin was earlier reported to have insisted that he would not dump APC when his governorship ambition was blocked.

Following the gale of defection in the Kano APC, Ganduje agreed that heavyweights in the party, including Barau Jibrin, should be allowed to contest for Senate in order to save the party from loosing.

The state Secretary of APC, Zakari Sarina, said, “There were tangible understandings between the duo and soon everybody will know this position.”
