Gombe United ready to shock Akwa Utd

Gombe United Football Club head coach, Manu Garba, is optimistic that his side will put up an impressive show against Akwa United Football Club, despite that he may play this weekend’s game without some of his key players, who are nursing injury.

It is almost certain that The Desert Scorpions may miss the services of Bala Mohammed, Kennedy Obiokor, Manir Ubale, Sanusi Sani and Uche Onwasunya, but the tactician insists that he has enough quality replacement to upset the boys from Akwa Ibom.

Garba said, “We have lost five players to injury problems. That notwithstanding, we are ready and have the capacity to take on the visitors and get the required result. “That is why we signed many players, because whenever a player is out – you have to get a replacement.

We have players who can fit into those positions and still perform very well. It is an opportunity for the rest of the players to come into the team and do well. If they can do well, it will be difficult for the returning injured players and they will have to fight for their starting place.”
