Jos violence: NANS thanks Bello for evacuating Kogi students

The National Association of Nigerian Students has appreciated the Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, for swiftly evacuating Kogi students in the University of Jos, Plateau State which was recently closed down.

The national chapter of NANS and the University of Jos chapter of the National Association of Kogi State Students expressed their gratitude to Governor Bello in separate statements on Sunday.

Recall that attacks and killings of students and staff of the institution have been recurring amidst the civil unrest in the state.

Also, Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Gray Ejikeme assured that details of the outcome of investigations into the attacks and the number of students killed will be made available.

In showing their appreciation, NANS described the governor’s action of assembling gallant security team to secure the safe evacuation as “thoughtful, proactive and unprecedented.”

“NANS is forever grateful and indebted for His Excellency’s Nigerianess and will not forget in a hurry this succour and relief brought to distressed Nigerian Students.

“We have no doubt that His Excellency Yahaya Bello is setting an incredible precedence and good example for other State Chief Executives to follow in being proactive in responding to the plight and welfare of Nigerian Students,” the Association stated.

NAKOSS in its letter of appreciation heaped praises on the governor for coming to the aid of the stranded students amid the violence in the university environment.

“The governor immediately approved the deployment of vehicles fully armed to evacuate the students (Kogi indigenes and non-indigenes) back home safely after the response of the capable Chief of Staff to the governor, AbdulKareem Jamiu.”
