THERE was commotion on Tuesday along the Mile 2/Oshodi axis of Lagos State, when a riot broke out, following an alleged harassment of commercial motorcycle riders by police operatives.

The riot, which was in protest of the alleged harassment, has caused serious gridlock on the adjoining routes as motorists turned back to take alternative routes to their destinations.

The policemen, who reportedly said they were task force officials, were allegedly in the area to seize motorcycles, popularly called Okada, according to eyewitnesses.

In a video that has gone viral, a male voice was heard saying, “Avoid Mile 2, Oshodi. If you’re going towards this direction, look for another route. There is a serious riot going on. Policemen came, they said they were task force officials, to seize bikes (Okada), and the people are protesting. It’s serious.”
