Man, 20, drowns in Kano dam

A 20-year-old man named Ahmed Ali, has reportedly got drowned in a pond at Laraba Albasawa village in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

A close relative of the deceased, Musa Mahmuda, in an exclusive telephone interview disclosed to The Point that late Ali got drowned in a body of water in a mysterious circumstance.

Mahmuda said, “We were at home when some members of the community came to inform us that Ahmed had got drowned in a pool. We rushed to the place but could not trace him.

“We called for help. Later, some officers from the state fire service came and recovered his lifeless body from the water. We have since buried him according to Islamic rites.”

The Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident, said that a search was conducted by men of the Fire Service 15 minutes after the distress call from Gezawa.

He said, “One Ahmed Ali was rescued unconscious from inside an open water in Larabawa Village and was later confirmed dead.

We handed over his body to his brother, Musa Mahmuda, for burial.”
