Man arraigned for stealing N208, 100 beer, cash

The police in Lagos have arraigned a 32-year-old man for allegedly stealing some beer and cash worth N208,100. 00, in the metropolis.

The accused person, Paul Ugor, was brought to the Ajegunle Magistrates’ Court in the Apapa Magisterial District by Sgt. Mayowa Fayenuwo attached to the Ajeromi Police Station.

The prosecutor, Inspector Donjor Perezi, told the accused that the accused committed the offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015, at Cemetery Street, Ajegunle, Lagos
State.

The one-count charge read that the accused person “did  steal 23 bottles of Heineken beer valued N11, 500 (Eleven thousand , five hundred Naira), 25 bottles of Trophy beer valued at N7,500 (Seven thousand, five hundred Naira), 20 bottles of Goldberg beer valued at N6, 000 (Six thousand Naira), 24 bottles of Life beer valued  at N7,200 (Seven thousand, two hundred Naira), 5 bottles of
3’3 beer valued at N1,500 (One thousand, five hundred Naira), 10 bottles of Big Stout valued at N5,000 (Five thousand Naira), 10 bottles of Legend Stout valued at N5,100 (Five thousand, one hundred Naira), Gulder beer valued at N1,500 (One thousand , five hundred Naira), 17 bottles of Small Stout valued at N5, 100 (Five thousand , one hundred Naira),  6 bottles of Smirnoff- Ice valued at N1,800 (One thousand, eight hundred Naira, and cash sum of N157, 000 (One hundred and fifty seven thousand Naira), all total valued of N208, 100 (Two hundred and eight thousand, one hundred Naira), properties of Audi
Kelvin.”

The presiding magistrate, Mr O. S. Abioye who held brief for Mrs O.A. Erinle asked the accused person if he was guilty and he responded: “I am not guilty, my
lord.”

The magistrate granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety who must be a tax payer. The case was adjourned till October
23, 2018.
