Men of the Osun State Police Command have arrested a man called Sanusi Shaib for allegedly killing his wife, Kehinde Adegboye, and dumping her body inside an abandoned car.

It was gathered that Shaib, aged 41, had been involved in pockets of domestic violence with his wife over some private issues.

A family member of the deceased, who did not want to be named, claimed that Shaib, at a particular time, stabbed his wife on her buttocks, making her unable to sit for over one month.

The source further alleged that Shaib had been warned several times by his in-laws against battering his wife as a result of disagreements.

After allegedly stabbing his wife to death during a brawl on November 13, Shaib was said to have dumped her remains inside an abandoned vehicle some few kilometres to his Owo-Eba, Osogbo residence.

The suspect reportedly informed their neighbours that his wife was missing, making concerned neighbours and family members organise a search party for the deceased.

They later found her remains in an abandoned car with a wrapper around her neck.

A police source disclosed that Adegboye wore underwear and a kitchen knife was found in her hand in the abandoned vehicle.

Investigation, however, revealed that Shaib had declared his wife missing after killing her during a fight, and later dumped her body in the abandoned car.

Shaib was arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo on the allegation of murder.

The charge preferred against him reads, “Sanusi Shaib, on November 13, 2021 at 10am, at Owo-Eba area, Osogbo, did unlawfully kill one Kehinde Adegboye.”

Police prosecutor, Inspector Fatoba Temitope, said that the offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant’s plea was not taken by the court. The defence counsel, A. Adedokun, was unable to apply for bail for his client.

Chief Magistrate A. A. Adebayo ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre pending the January 27, 2022 adjourned date for mention.
