MUSWEN’s 10th anniversary confab holds on Saturday

 

 

The International conference organised by the Muslim Ummah of  South West Nigeria, MUSWEN, as part of activities lined up to mark the 10th year anniversary of the group, is scheduled to take place in Ibadan on Saturday, October 6th, 2018.

According to a statement signed by the Chairman, Conference Planning Committee, Prof. Muhib Opeloye and 10th Anniversary Committee chairman, Alhaji  Yisa Abdulkareem, the maiden international conference  to discuss the history of Islam in Yoruba land will hold at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan-Oyo state, starting from 10 am.

The theme of the conference is; “Islam in Yorubaland: Progress and Challenges.” “This will feature intellectual and scholarly presentations which will be presided over by the Chairman, MUSWEN Board of Trustees, Retired Justice Bola Ajibola.”

Leading keynote and paper presenters include the Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Imam Abdurrahman Ahmad and President of Lagos State Muslim Community, Prof. Tajudeen  Gbadamosi. League of Imams and Alfas in the South West as well as prominent Muslim groups and scholars are equally expected at the conference.

Other dignitaries expected at the conference include the Executive Secretary of MUSWEN, Prof. Daud Noibi, MUSWEN’s President and Conference Convener, Alhaji Sakariyau Babalola among others. “MUSWEN was established in August, 2008 with the aim of uniting the Muslims in the six states that make up the region and foster the development of the Ummah in the country. MUSWEN prides itself as a unifying factor for the Muslims in the region and beyond and thus, the 10th year of existence is a decade of unity, peace and progress.”

The grand finale will hold on Saturday, 18th of November, 2018, when dignitaries like his eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and other eminent personalities from all over the country and beyond, will be gracing the occasion.
