My first love: Olawale Ojo, Project Fame winner

When I first thought I loved a girl, I was doing my predegree at LAUTECH. She was yet to gain admission. She was very beautiful.

Since I did not have the courage to tell her how I felt, I told a big sister in our neighbourhood. She invited her to their house and I met her there. I cannot even remember what I said to her but we got talking. I actually thought we were dating; I did not know she was faking it.

Whenever she asked me for money, I would make sure I get if for her. I even bought her a phone when she said she needed it to always reach me. Phones were very expensive then.

It was later the big sister told me that the girl was always bragging at home that I was her ‘maga.’ I was broken because I thought she cared about me. I decided not to give her anything again and she stopped to pick my calls. I felt cheated and it took me four years before I could date another girl.

I don’t even know where she is now, as I lost contact with her many years ago. I don’t know if she is married or still in Nigeria. At that point, it was really hurting but later I felt it was part of life.

Then, I did not know about relationships and it was my first attempt. She took advantage of my innocence, but I have forgiven her.
