NDDC and its unjust contract awards

The way the Niger Delta Development Commission is presently constituted, it will not meet the expectation of the people.

A situation where the state representatives are mere board members and do not have a say in the procurement and award of contracts, will definitely affect the overall performance of the state representatives.

I believe that for the desired result to be achieved, state commissioners who are representatives of the board should be made to be part of the management which sees to the day-to-day running of the commission.

I am also worried over the contracts being awarded by the management of the NDDC, without the knowledge of the state commissioners of the oil producing states and hence, we have the commission executing projects that do not impact on the people of the oil-producing areas.

Besides, many of such contracts are now abandoned at various stages. The media, in particular, should help look into the matter.
