Nigeria hasn’t known peace under Buhari – Abia PDP chair

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, has said that Nigeria has not known peace under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said he was worried that peace had eluded Nigeria since the Buhari-led government came into office in 2015.
Onuigbo stated this in an interview with our correspondent, after paying a visit to the people of Ohafia Local Government Area at the party’s council headquarters in Ebem Ohafia.
He expressed concern that if the situation “which has claimed many lives and property worth millions of Naira” was not properly checked, it could degenerate into a crisis with ethno-religious dimension.
Onuigbo, who was in company with the State Executive Committee members of the party, said the easiest and most peaceful means of putting an end to the current orgy of violence and bloodletting in the country was to vote out Buhari in 2019.
Explaining that the visit was aimed at thanking the people for their steadfast support for the party, he stressed that they must endevour to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Cards for the forthcoming elections.
“The beauty of democracy is that it affords people the opportunity of choosing their own leaders through the ballot box. So, I told them to use it to send the government packing next year,” he noted.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the council, Engr. John Njoku, said, under his leadership the LG had embarked on numerous development projects, which were all nearing completion.
“Also, we have mobilized our people to go all out and obtain their Permanent Voters’ Cards to enable them to vote for Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and other PDP candidates in the election,” he said.
Similarly, both Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu and Mandela Obasi, representing Ohafia South and Ohafia North State Constituencies, respectively, in the state House of Assembly, assured the people of their continued quality representation.
In his contribution, the Councilor representing Ohafor Ward 1 (Asaga Ohafia) in the council, Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke, said he had committed over N6million into providing democracy dividends in the ward.
According to Nwoke, the dividends include renovation of several community halls, free water supply and farm shuttle bus service and building of a culvert.
“Soon, I will embark on youth empowerment and skills acquisition programmes, and assisting of both the needy and indigent persons, among others,” the deputy leader of the council said.
