Reunion: Amosun’ll only use you for 2019 polls, Ogun PDP factional chair warns Osoba

…accuses Kashamu of masterminding crisis in state PDP

A factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, has warned former governor Olusegun Osoba and his loyalists to be wary of their new rapprochement with the incumbent Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
He alleged that Amosun only extended an olive branch to Osoba and his loyalists because of the need to have them on his side in the 2019 general elections.
Ogundele, however, advised Osoba to immediately severe his renewed ties with Amosun to avoid a repeat of the unpalatable treatment he and his camp suffered from the governor since the run-up to the 2015 general elections.
Amosun and the former governor’s camp in the All Progressive Congress were at loggerheads before the 2015 elections, resulting in Osoba and his loyalists leaving the ruling party for the Social Democratic Party, where they contested the elections and lost. Recently, as part of the moves to resolve their differences, Governor Amosun visited Osoba in his Lagos home to settle rift between them, ahead of the 2019 elections.
But speaking with our correspondent in Abeokuta, Ogundele described the new friendship between Amosun and Osoba as a “union of incompatibility,” saying that the latter should have rejected the former’s hands of friendship whom he said had deceived them for almost eight years.
The former member of the state House of Assembly noted that Amosun’s reunion with Osoba and his group was only to deceive them again in order to achieve his political goal ahead of the 2019 elections in the state.
Ogundele, who maintained that he remained the authentic chairman of the PDP in the state, accused the governor of deceiving Osoba and his loyalists to obtain the APC ticket in 2011, adding that it was high time the former governor and his group ensured that they did not suffer another defeat by Amosun.
He advised them to leave the APC and pitch their tent with the PDP in order to benefit from the proceeds of democracy, while noting that Amosun and the APC in the state had nothing to offer them.
He said, “It is a union of incompatibility; it is full of deceit. I will use this opportunity to crave the indulgence of osoba and his supporters to use their brains. This person lied and deceived them when he was coming up to take the ticket and the treatment he gave to them was unpolitical.”
