Three local government areas, namely, Ikwo, Ivo and Ohaozara in Ebonyi State are among the 112 council areas selected nationwide for the first pretest exercise for the conduct of national census in the country.

Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, the National Population Commission, Federal Commissioner in charge of Ebonyi State, Darlington Okereke, explained that the exercise was to test run the effectiveness of the already Demarcated Enumeration Areas in readiness for the census.

Okereke noted that the Commission was making consultations on the content of questionnaires to be deployed during the actual national census, especially, as it concerned ethnicity and religion.

The Point Correspondent in Abakaliki reports that the Commission carried out Enumeration Area Demarcation in 630 Local Government Areas across the country since 2016 while the forthcoming actual national population census was expected to take place after Mr President’s proclamation.
