Men of the Osun State Police Command have arrested a 26-year-old-woman, Queen David, for allegedly stealing the sum of N750, 000 belonging to her employer.

It was gathered that David, who allegedly committed the act in November last year, bolted away immediately after but she was arrested by the police in June this year.

The police disclosed that the suspect claimed that she was abducted by some unknown persons on her way to deposit the money in the bank.

However, the police said that her claim was untrue.

After completion of investigation, the lady was dragged to a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo on account of stealing and making false statements to the police.

The charge brought against her read that “Queen David and others now at large, on November 13, 2021 at 3pm at Mallam Tope area, Osogbo, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: stealing and making false statement to public officers and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

“You (Queen) and others now at large, did steal the sum of N750,000 property of one Badmus Olayemi and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

“You, Queen David, and others now at large, with intent to mislead, give false information to the police that you were kidnapped by unknown persons which you know to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 125A of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the three-count-charge slammed against her.

Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara granted her bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in the same amount.

He ruled that the sureties, who must be residents within the court jurisdiction, should swear to affidavit of means.

The matter was adjourned till June 23 for hearing.
