Southampton demand N14b to release Tella

Championship club Southampton are demanding £15 million (approximately N14 billion in Nigerian currency) for 23-year-old Anglo-Nigerian winger Nathan Tella to be released for Premiership newcomers Burnley.

Burnley, coached by Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany, are unlikely to pay that much to sign Tella, who has two years left on his contract at Southampton.

Burnley are looking to sign him Tella on a permanent deal after his impressive performances last season helped them seal an immediate return to the Premier League.

Tella joined Burnley last summer on a season-long loan with no option or obligation to buy included in the deal taking him to Turf Moor.

The winger mustered nineteen goals and five assists in forty five appearances across all competitions during his time at Burnley, and was named in the EFL Championship Team of the Season.

Tella has some Premier League experience, having played 33 games for Southampton before he was shipped out on loan to Burnley.
