Suspected teenage vandals docked over theft, destruction of IBEDC transformer cables

The Osun State Police Command has dragged two suspected vandals before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ikire, for allegedly destroying and stealing transformer cables belonging to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
The teenage suspects, Hammed Mukaila and Shakiru Adigun, were arraigned over a three-count-charge bearing on conspiracy, stealing and destruction of property.
The charge sheet marked MRC/71c/2017, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent reads, “That you Hammed Mukaila and Shakiru Adigun and one Michael, now at large on or before 1st of September 2017 at about 10am at Oluseke village via Ikire, did conspire together to commit felony to wit stealing.
“That you (accused persons) and one Michael at the aforementioned place, time and Magisterial district did steal one 20-meter incoming IBEDC transformer cable valued at N110,000; 30meters of IBDEC  transformer cable valued at N270,000; 150meters of LNG IBEDC transformer cable valued at N7,200 and one 70-meter LNG IBEDC transformer cable valued at N4400, totalling N391,600, property of of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, Ikire Station.
“That you Hammed Mukaila, Shakiru and one Michael, now at large, on the same date, time and place did willfully damage one IBEDC Electric system, which endangers the neighborhood.”
Police Prosecutor, Afeez Ogunwale, informed the court that the offence committed by the three suspects contravened Section 516, (9) and 451(b) of the Criminal Code Cap 30, vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
The two male accused persons entered into a not guilty plea to the allegations slammed on them by the police.
Their counsel, Mrs. J. A Adeboye, made applications for their bail, asking the court to make the bail conditions affordable.
Magistrate A.K Oyawale granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties in the same amount.
The matter was adjourned till November 20, 2017 for hearing.
