My wife grabs my manhood whenever we quarrel, man tells court

A man, Chukwuma Onwumere, has asked an Igando customary court, Lagos, to dissolve the 10-year-old marriage between him and his wife, Obianuju Onwumere, over his wife’s alleged usual attitude of grabbing his manhood during any misunderstanding between them.
The petitioner told the court that he suspected his wife of planning to take his life with the manner she usually grabbed his manhood and squeezed it whenever they had any quarrel.
“My wife wants to kill me by always grabbing my testicles during fight. Apart from twisting my scrotum, she’s always hitting me with dangerous weapons over trivial issues,” he said.
He also reported that Obianuju once hit him with a dangerous weapon on his head during a quarrel.
“She once cut me with machete on my head during one of our fights,” he said.
The 43-year-old man further accused his wife of always making “suspicious movements,” especially at night, adding that whenever he challenged her, she would pick a quarrel with him and go for his manhood.
He, therefore, urged the court to dissolve the marriage.
Meanwhile, Obianuju, who is the respondent denied all the allegations levelled against her by her husband, alleging that her husband had always threatened her life.
The 34-year-old woman said, “My husband was always beating me; all the scars on my body were as a result of his abuse. There was a day he beat me and one of my teeth was knocked off.
“There was also a night, while sleeping, I saw my husband with a charm in his hand, moving round my bed and reciting some incantations. I quickly got up from the bed, but he left my room and placed the charm at my door post.’’
She also said her husband packed her belongings to her family in her village and accused her of being a witch.
“My husband carried my property to my parents, claiming that he was told by a spiritualist that I was a witch. He told my parents that he was no longer interested in our marriage,” she said.
She also denied that she once attacked her husband with a machete with which she inflicted an injury on his head.
Obianuju, however, pleaded with the court to grant her husband’s wish and dissolve the marriage, saying she was no more interested in any relationship with her
husband.
The President of the court, Adegboyega Omilola, adjourned the case for further hearing.
