The Accord Party in the South-West on Wednesday gave its National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Nalado, a seven-day ultimatum to resign his appointment over alleged anti-party activities.

The state chapters of the party in the South-West jointly passed a vote of no confidence on Nalado at a meeting held at Grand Serene Hotel, Ibadan.

The Chairman of the party in Osun State, Otunba Segun Fanibe, who spoke with journalists on behalf of the South-West chapter of the party, disclosed that the Oyo State chapter, however did not support the ultimatum.
Nalado, who hails from Daura in Katsina State, was accused of unilaterally taking the National Assembly to court without any consultation or approval from the National Working Committee of the party.
He was also alleged to have collected money from the ruling All Progressives Congress to pay the rent of the national secretariat of AP in Abuja.
In addition, Nalado was also alleged to have unilaterally printed posters of himself as an aspirant for a vacant senatorial seat in Katsina State, without putting the party (Accord) logo, thereby giving an impression that he intends to contest election on the platform of another party.
Fanibe, who was flanked by other state chairmen of the party in the South-West alongside party leaders in the zone, said that Nalado contravened Article 20 of the party’s constitution and publicly brought the party to ridicule.
He said, “The leaders of Accord in the five states in the South-West that have come together on these resolutions dissociate ourselves from the court proceedings instituted by the national chairman in the name of Accord against the National Assembly.

“The National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Nalado, must resign. We want him to resign within seven days, or in the alternative he should call NWC meeting, which shall set up a seven-man disciplinary committee to investigate the weighty allegations and recommend appropriate actions in accordance with the constitution of the party.”

Fanibe, who said the party had in the past three weeks sought an audience with Nalado on the issues to no avail, stated that the failure of the national chairman to either resign within seven days or call NWC meeting, “will cause the Accord in the South-West to meet again within two weeks, to decide on our continued membership of the party.”

Meanwhile, the South-West chapter of Accord Party on the occasion congratulated former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on the adoption of the African Democratic Congress by Obasanjo’s Coalition of Nigeria Movement, saying, “We wish them the best of luck.”
